Very good food in a cozy atmosphere. A path that is worthwhile.

The almost consistently 5 star reviews say enough ... for several years we have been enjoying being guests of Manuela and Helmut Jäger again and again. From the kitchen to the service to the ambience, we can unreservedly recommend this restaurant.

Overall a nice restaurant. The food was very tasty. The waitress is a young man with curly blond hair who is very nice and tries very hard to create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately, the owner let us feel that we were only tourists, as we, as a rather young small family, did not fit into the picture of the locality. The location is very rural and beautiful, not far from the beautiful Schluchsee.

Nice, informal inn with seasonal, regional cuisine, where a lot of emphasis is placed on freshness, high quality and a certain lightness of the dishes, without losing any down-to-earthness. The menu is small and very varied. The homemade noodles and the delicious vegetables taste particularly good, which are simply something special and a great change from French fries or spaetzle, which you can also recommend here without reservation! The wine list and spirits are selected and recommended! The owners and wait staff are always friendly and attentive. I urgently need to make a correction to Lisa Krawutschke's review. The "village idiots" and / or "drinking buddies" at the regulars' table are two men with intellectual disabilities from the neighborhood who, like everyone else, belong in the middle of society and are not allowed to be excluded. For decades every other guest has been warmly welcomed to the Hirschen guest house and are welcome. They don't drink and have never done anything to anyone. Maybe you should reconsider your rating and next time speak to the staff if you feel uncomfortable. By clarifying the matter, you can enjoy your meal and good-hearted people are not labeled as lustful idiots.

We were there for the first time and were received without reservation very friendly. The atmosphere in the farmhouse parlor was quaint and everything was very nice and elegantly set. The food was just amazing - the meat was super tender and with just the perfect cooking spot. But the side dishes were exactly as they should be, just delicious. We can only recommend the inn and will, if we are back in the area, definitely go there again.

The Gasthaus zum Hirschen is a classy and rustic Black Forest parlor. Typical ambience with very nice service. I ate the Hirschagoutit spaetzle and it was just delicious and the portion was very generous. In addition there was the whole thing for a very fair price. I will gladly come again.

Off the beaten tourist track but worth a detour. An excellent restaurant in the beautiful Black Forest. Definitely recommended. The dining room is very traditional with great atmosphere. The service was fantastic.The dishes are a modern twist on traditional local meal and are excellent prepared by Manuela the wife of the owner Helmut. The use seasonal vegetables, selected local herbs and regional products from farmers, hunters and other local producers. There is a good choice of wines reasonably priced. Ask Helmut, the owner, for his recommendation he is a wine expert. We had an aperitif, two excellent starters, two fabulous main dishes, one awesome dessert, two bottles of water, one bottle of fantastic white wine from the Lake Constance region and two espresso and we paid USD 116.
